Anipal Photo Hunt #16 My Other Job

I was the Official Poster Boy for The Animal Welfare League (@AWLQ), Qld, Australia.  I regularly appeared in magazines, newspapers and even television.

I was the AWLQ's Guest Speaker at large functions, where I would do photo shoots and go on stage (wearing my Dinner Suit) and use my charm to promote the adoption of Golden Oldies.

 I LOVED photo shoots; the bigger the camera the better I worked it !  I could do 4 hour shoots without missing a beat !  Not bad for an 18year old dog !  BOL !

I am even in one National Media Photographer's Resume Book, alongside her photos of The Rolling Stones !  True story !


Crossing OTRB has not slowed me up !  I am still the Poster Boy for @AWLQ Golden Oldies.  I raise money and awareness globally for Golden Oldies every opportunity I get, in an effort to remind Pals that we are the perfect pets !

Photograph:  doggies at @AWLQ loving their new toys from #PepiPawty that everyone held in my Honor !  Lots of cash was raised, as well as 200 toys !  You guys really made a BIG difference to these doggies and kittehs while they were waiting to find their "forever families" !

I have also change the perception of Pals and their human's thinking about Pet Pram/Strollers !  People used to laugh and jeer at me in my Pram/Stroller.  But Mum and I persevered !  We made Prams acceptable.  Then we made Prams COOL !
Pram sales have now soared ! Prams are now considered a cool canine accessory.  Kitteh Strollers too !

Photograph: Mum & I used to run 6 miles every day; I would run & then rest up & then run more.  I could run approx 2 miles on my own paws! (not bad for 18 yrs old !)  The Pram kept me an active and healthy member of Society !  I highly recommend every elderly or infirm Pal to have one !

I also trained our neighbor dogs.  They were allowed to accompany Mum and I on our daily 6 mile run, where I would instruct them about the refinements of life, such as manners !  Neighbor dog Bonnie was my best friend.  Because she is so tall, I taught her to lay on the ground to talk to me.  Saved me getting a neck cramp !  I was a "mentor" to many younger dogs.

But when the camera crews went home and the pawty lights were turned off....I was just a regular little hairy guy.

Anipal Photo Hunt #15 The Vet

The Veterinarian Always Rings Twice !  
*scream* *scream**scream*

In September 2009 I had an unexpected reaction to a medicine and got really ill.  My Vet, Dr. Carrie McDonald (who Mum and I really like) sent me to the Gold Coast Animal Emergency Service, Intensive Care Hospital.

The I.C.U. hospital took really good care of me.  The vet Nurses all loved me!  Of course I had my charm turned  up on high!  It also helped that @HellaHedgie issued my Speedo Membership Certificate which I had on display in my "compartment".

I had 24 "buddies" but my favorite was this little guy, so he stayed with me in hospital.   Here's a fact:  Mum visited 4 times a day every day.  Half an hour BEFORE she arrived, every single time, I would start barking non-stop and could not be calmed down until she arrived.   Mum's drive was half an hour.  I never got it wrong one time!

I was allowed to come home because everything said I was in good shape!  We were all so excited.  But I was only home for less than 5 minutes when I had a major  stroke, which I survived.  Mum rushed me back to the ICU where my Canine Specialist was waiting for me.  

A domino effect was taking place, where fixing one thing was damaging something else.  I had just had a major brain hemorrhage.  My quality of life would not be the same now.

  As a gift of love, Mum put me to sleep and I died wrapped in her arms, with her telling me how much she loved me.  The ICU nurses laid me in this special muslin bag and tied blue ribbons and flowers around it.  My Vet, Dr. McDonald cried, and sent Mum flowers.  

Lots of Pals don't like their vets, but I met some really good ones.  Being a vet is not easy because Pals are usually very scared and just want to go home.  Usually Pal's humans are also very upset. 

So Pals please remember this:  we are the luckiest Pals, because we have access to vets.  Next time you see your vet, instead of biting them, try wagging your tail or give them a nose-tap!  Use your charm on them!  They really like that and then they can't help but spoil you rotten!  BOL !

AnipalPhotoHunt #14 MOM !

This is my Mum, Michele.  The photo was taken just 3 weeks ago, in Athens, Greece.
She had just rescued this poor  homeless kitteh- Tomcat, who had been badly mauled by a dog.  After 4 hours together, the kitteh and Mum had sat waiting in an exclusive Dress Shop for one hour, then travelled across Athens in a taxi cab, been at the Vet's, then Mum carried the kitteh for another 2 miles back to"his" shop front on the busy street.  This photo represents a "kitteh safely returned after Vet treatment" !

AnipalPhotoHunt #13 Where I Stand

This photo was taken one month ago, from my back porch.  Mum lives on a golf course, where lots of the wildlife are really tame.  These Kangaroos come and visit almost daily;  there are 5 Mobs of Roos living on the course, as well as Koalas, Swans & Ducks & Geese, and a multitude of birdlife, etc.

Here I am on my porch  just before I went OTRB!  BOL !  It's the same spot as where the top piccie was taken.

This pic was taken one minute after the top piccie;  Mum just leaned over the fence.  See the one in the background.....I think he's singing !  BOL !! (Notice how tame they are ! )

Sometimes we all have to pinch ourselves to realize what a great spot we are in.

#Anipal Photo Hunt #6: Most Unlikely To Be Adopted

Meet Tucker #206700.  He's only 3yrs old & waiting at @AWLQld.  Tucker was a stray & may need to visit the Beauty Parlor, but this little guy has HUGE personality!  Look at those big eyes & super cute smile !  He's a Shih Tzu X Maltese.
Please help Tucker find his "forever home" too.

My sisfur Suki even failed Fostering !  She was branded "Not suitable for re-homing" & was about to be PTS.  She was anorexic skinny,  had major catittude issues, plus her 3rd eyelids kept closing over from stress, which made her look weird !  She was just not pretty enough.  Actually she was terrified & very depressed & missing her sisfur Tahni.  Now Suki & Tahni are together again & we love her a lot !

I was the most unlikely to be adopted !  I was 12yrs old, with early cataracts.  I was skinny & extremely depressed !  I was homeless !  Mum saw "the real me" in my eyes & took a chance.  I was completely mute for the first 6 months.  The rest is history ! I became a global Multi-Media Celebrity !  Look beyond our worried face & underweight body = we are fretting & scared.  If you need proof = think of me !

Anipal Hunt #4 My Bed

For Power Naps, my bed could be anywhere......

In my beds, it was important to get the angels correct !

This was my favorite bed cover:  an old mink coat !  Hey, I was old & it was old;  we were old together. So soft & cosy.  This pic was taken during the day, cause at night I slept on Mum's bed and I NEVER slept without my jammies on !

I'm Apple:  My beds need to be BIG !  These beds are too small.  (I'm 29 LB)

This is my day bed ! It's a BIG Velvet Armchair.

This is my other bed, for night time;  next to Mum's bed.  It's a BIG armchair.

Suki (left) Tahni (right):  Our Bed means being together.  We are sisfurs & when our first family had to go away, we were separated & got sent to different Foster families;  we were very sad & very scared.  By chance, our new Mum found Suki & a week later she got me too !  We were reunited again !  We really love each other a lot.  This is our day bed, an armchair next to Mum's computer.  At night we seep together on Mum's bed, with her.

This is my day bed, when I want a little "me" time.  This is Tahni World !  Notice the porthole: I peep thru it to spy on Apple !  BOL !

I'm in-charge of Mum's bathroom & this is my special bathroom bed.  When I'm not here, I'm with Tahni.

Anipal Photo Hunt #3: MY FAVORITE THINGS

My FAVORITE toy was my Pram !  I went everywhere in it !  My Pram was as famous as me !  BOL !  Check out my pink cell phone = it actually rings too !  I used to carry it around in my mouth and get it to ring and then pass it people ! BOL !  It's a special Dog Phone.  (this pic was taken 2 days before I went OTRB; catheter in right forearm).

I had 24 toy Buddies, but my all time FAVORITE Buddy was this guy !   We went everywhere together; he even came & stayed at the ICU Hospital with me.  We also did Media Photo Shoots together too !  ( I never damaged any of my 24 buddies; I kept them together in a pile on the rug & would choose a different one each day to come on our run together; never took the same buddy twice in a row ! ) (this pic taken in ICU, just before OTRB)

I'm Apple & I love my Tunnel of Doom !  I run flat out and dive into it at full speed and go sliding out of control down the hallway and slam into the front door ! MOL !  

Every morning my FAVORITE thing to do is ambushing birds & kangaroos & swans & anything else that looks in my windows !  Boom ! I've got them !  *darn window glass gets in the way*

I'm Suki,  HongKong Supermodel.   My FAVORITE toys are the feathers Mum gets off the golf course.....the feathers that drop out of the ducks !  And my other Favorite thing is this box !  Feathers in a box = it doesn't get any better !  Mum ties the feathers to an elastic string & I leap in the air and fly around chasing them.  MOL !

Every day my favorite thing to do is "play hard" !

I'm Tahni.  I ONLY play with acrylic toys ! Acrylic is my FAVORITE ! I'm very particular.  Soon as I finish playing I take my toys and bury them in secret places.  Mum says I'm a BowerBird !  *SECRET......SShhhhh = I have a BIG stack of acrylic toys and Mum can't find them* !  Hee! Hee !

I also LOVE catching geckoes.

But sometimes FAVORITE things put me in tricky spots !
